Build on the data

Everything Delving publishes is open and queryable through a search API, and on request linkable as RDF with a SPARQL endpoint. The data layer is yours to build on.

The index behind your search is not a locked box. The same data that powers DIW is exposed through open, standard interfaces — so your developers, your partners, or the public can build things you haven’t thought of yet.

Search API

A clean, faceted JSON API — the very same one DIW runs on. Full-text search, filters, facets, and paging over your entire published collection. If you can call an HTTP endpoint, you can build a search experience, a widget, a mobile app, or a data feed on top of it.

SPARQL endpoint

Your records are a graph, not just rows. When your collection is published as linked open data (on request), a SPARQL endpoint lets you query that graph directly — traverse relationships between records, people, places, and concepts, and ask questions a search box can’t express.

RDF & Linked Open Data

On request, records are published as RDF with dereferenceable URIs, linked to shared authorities. That means your collection doesn’t just sit on your site — it joins the wider web of Linked Open Data, discoverable and reusable alongside everyone else’s.

Build beautiful things on top

Timelines, maps, network graphs, cross-collection mashups, research tools — once the data is open and structured, the front end is wide open. We’re happy to help you scope what’s possible. Get in touch →
