Your collection, open to the world.
Delving makes your data searchable, linked, and publicly available. For national aggregators and historical societies alike.
One platform
Harvest, analyze, map, transform, enrich, and publish — the whole process in one platform: Orchestra.
Public search
DIW gives your visitors fast, faceted search — installable on almost any web platform.
Open data
An open search API, with linked open data (RDF, SPARQL) on request — build beautiful things on top.
From source files to living data
One continuous flow takes source data in whatever format it arrives — and makes it searchable, reusable, and aligned with open standards.
An Open-Data Publishing Platform
Orchestra brings the whole process together. Each stage is a service inside it, with live preview at every step.
Harvest
Metadata is pulled from where it lives — OAI-PMH (the standard protocol collection systems use to share records), XML and CSV files, existing databases — and can be re-harvested on a schedule, so updates come through.
Analyze
Source data is profiled before anything is mapped: field coverage, quality, and structure — so the mapping starts from facts, not guesses.
Map fields
Source fields are mapped to your model with a live preview, so each transformation is checked before it runs.
Transform
The mapping runs across the whole dataset, converting your original source records into the target schema.
Enrich
Records are linked to people, places, and concepts, adding the authorities and context that make search meaningful.
Publish
Records are indexed into a live search index — the engine behind your public search and your open data API.
DIW — the search your visitors actually use
Delving Instant Websearch is a fast, faceted search experience you can install on almost any web platform, WordPress included. It reads straight from the published index — no extra plumbing.
An open data layer, not a black box
Everything you publish is available through an open search API. On request, we also publish it as linked open data, with RDF and a SPARQL endpoint. Query it, link it, and build beautiful things on top.
Arches — set up, hosted, maintained
Running Arches, the open-source platform for cultural-heritage data management? We handle the setup, hosting, and maintenance — and can connect it to the Delving process.
Running in production
Aggregators and institutions serve their collections to the public through Delving every day.
From a local historical society to a major museum or archive
Every collection goes through the same process: converted to open standard formats and published to the world — searchable, linked, and under your own name. That includes datasets the big aggregators don't take in.
Cultural heritage is our focus, but nothing about the engine is heritage-specific.
The same steps that publish a museum collection work just as well for research data, government records or any other large, structured dataset.
